Architecture is often at its strongest when it works with what already exists.

Stone was an opportunity to demonstrate how considered architecture can preserve local heritage while responding to the needs of a growing community. While an earlier proposal sought to demolish the existing building entirely, we believed its heritage deserved to be retained. Our approach was to preserve its identity and carefully weave contemporary additions into its existing form, creating a collection of elegant new homes without compromising its character.

Every intervention was guided by restraint, proportion and respect for the original architecture.

The result is a seamless balance between preservation and progress. The historic public house remains an important landmark, while discreet extensions unlock seven thoughtfully designed apartments with generous outdoor space, improved amenities and a sustainable future. It is an example of architecture that adds value through intelligence rather than excess, proving that the most successful developments are often those that appear as though they have always belonged.
